FCYLC Recognized for Sportsmanship

We received word today the FCYLC was recognized for sportsmanship by the officials organization. This speaks well of our players, coaches and parents. Thanks everyone for keeping lacrosse fun!

Here's the announcement from Tom Bradley, WALOA Youth Assigner:

It is with great pleasure that the Washington Area Lacrosse Officials Association announces the recipients of the 2019 Bill Harvey Sportsmanship Award. This year's recipient is:

Falls Church Youth Lacrosse Club

Throughout the 2019 Spring NVYLL Boys Lacrosse Season Falls Church Youth Lacrosse Club displayed sportsmanship that positively affected the sport’s culture and created a game environment second to none. The actions, attitudes and composure of not only their student-athletes and coaches but also their field commissioners, parents and supporters set an exemplary example of sportsmanship for others to emulate. Great job Falls Church Lacrosse Club!

About The Bill Harvey Sportsmanship Award:

The Bill Harvey Sportsmanship Award (BHSA) is presented to a Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL) Organization by Washington Area Lacrosse Officials Association (WALOA). In consideration for the BHSA award the organization must positively affect a community's sports culture and game environment while clearly demonstrating sportsmanship. WALOA defines a sportsmanship act as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes and all participants based on values, respect and integrity. The organization also displays act(s) of integrity that go beyond the sport's playing rules and etiquette, that is, the field commissioners engage in assisting the flow of the game while coaches and others are respectful of the game. WALOA officials recognize the association as well organized having received positive feedback on reports about the organization.
